Going With the Obscure Story

Just finished writing a profile of Gen. John Hunt Morgan's brother, Charlton. He served JHM as captain and aide-de-camp. Found quite a few interesting details about his military service. Perhaps the most dramatic is his throttling of a colonel. But the story has been told many times in many places, including Civil War Times magazine. So I decided not to use it. Instead, I'm leading his profile with an incident of how he was mocked by Confederate scouts during Morgan's Christmas Raid in 1862. I've only found one place that it's been printed — Confederate Veteran magazine. It's a great little story which reveals the contrast between a pack of jaded scouts and Charlton galloping along in brilliant uniform.
